Conrad Drive pothole repaired

BLAIRGOWRIE – Temporary repairs are done to ensure the safety of motorists.

A pothole that Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) was scheduled to repair in Conrad Drive in Blairgowrie had gradually escalated due to a leaking pipe, which was not repaired timeously.

This had resulted in traffic congestion as motorists had to swerve on the road to avoid the large pothole.

On Wednesday, 24 August, the City’s entities, JRA and Johannesburg Water (JW) moved swiftly to repair the road following month-long complaints by motorists.

JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers thanked the public for reporting the problem and assured that JW repaired the leak and made the area safe.

“We will ensure that the running water that is resulting in the formation of potholes is addressed and that temporary repairs to the pothole is immediately undertaken to ensure the road is safe for road users,” she said.

The entity assured that when the road surface was sufficiently dry, permanent repairs would be undertaken with asphalt.

“The JRA encourages residents to report issues concerning road and storm water issues to 0860 562 874, hotline@jra.org.za or through twitter or via JRA Find&Fix mobile app, so that we may be of service,” she concluded.
