A wall for Life Tree Academy

KYA SAND – Building a wall of support for a community that needs protection.

Life Tree Academy had their boundary wall built by volunteers from The Vine Tree Church.

Life Tree Academy in Kya Sand is a recently built and developing small school aimed at educating the children of Kya Sand. During the last rainy season, the school was completely flooded. The rain destroyed uniforms, books, stationery and some infrastructure.

“We have been trying to build up our boundary wall with old tyres and sand to keep the rain away from the foundation of the school”, said Life Tree CEO, Carla-Lee Kamp.

The Vine Tree Church in Weltevreden Park heard of the school’s plight and decided to dedicate their Saturday to ensuring the wall remain secure.

Pastor Jeffrey Willems said, “We are here today to build the boundary wall as well as better the vegetable gardens.”

“Life Tree will massively benefit from the wall especially during the rainy season, and thunderstorms that are so prevalent in Joburg,” he added.

Vine Church donated the tyres, sand, plants and of course the many volunteers that came to better the educational environment of the pupils at Life Tree Academy.
