Planned Bryanston water outage

BRYANSTON - The outage on 23 August is planned to repair a 450 mm valve.

Johannesburg Water (JW) has announced it will implement planned water interruptions in certain areas of Bryanston, due to maintenance in the suburb, on 23 August.

According to JW spokesperson, Eleanor Mavimbela, various streets in the suburb and surrounding areas will be affected from that morning until between 5pm and 8pm. Residents can expect the water to be restored between those times.

Mavimbela said the interruption has been planned due to a 450mm valve being repaired.

The suburbs affected are:

Bryanston and Extensions

Bryanston East.

Bryanston West

Epsom Downs

Country Life Park

Millhill

Soleridge

Lyme park

Level 2 water restrictions are still in place and should be adhered to. This means no municipal water should be used to irrigate gardens, to fill swimming pools or to wash vehicles at certain times.

But Mavimbela said due to the colder weather conditions, the stipulated times that residents are not allowed to water and irrigate their gardens has

changed from 6am until 6pm to 8am until 4pm every day. “We urge residents to remain active partners in reducing the amount of water used in the City of Johannesburg and to report any form of vandalism and/or theft of water infrastructure to 0800 00 25 87. Residents are encouraged to subscribe, on our website, to our SMS notification service for alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions,” she added.

Water saving tips from JW:

· Don’t leave taps dripping

· Take shallow baths

· Use bath water or grey water to water the garden.
