The African National Congress (ANC) has been the governing party since South Arica’s first democratic election in 1994. Although many South Africans are dismayed with the party’s leadership, it still maintains its role as the majority’s choice.
The eNCA Ipsos polls, however, show the ANC has lost some of its support in the City of Johannesburg (CoJ). According to its manifesto, the ANC reaffirmed its commitment to building a non-racial, non-sexist, united, democratic and prosperous society.
“We remain guided by the Freedom Charter, which contains a declaration that ‘South Africa belongs to all who live in it, black and white’.”
