Mandela’s legacy lives on

KENSINGTON B – Randburg Police spread Madiba magic.

Nelson Mandela once said,”It always seems impossible until it’s done”, which reflects what the Randburg Police did in celebrating Mandela Day. The Randburg Police donated cleaning material to the Autism Centre Randburg Clinic and spent time cleaning their own backyard.

Sergeant Dipuo Maphanga said the Women’s Network at the station decided to club together to celebrate the icon’s birthday by giving back.”Some policewomen here today are off duty but chose to use their own time to give back to the community,” she said.

She added they recently held a fun walk to raise money to buy the Autism Centre Randburg Clinic cleaning detergents. After the handover, the policewomen headed back to their station in Kensington B where they cleaned up the backyard.

Principal of the Autism Centre Randburg Clinic, Ronald Bachelor, said they were grateful for the support they received from the police. He added that they did not just help on Mandela Day but were continuously supporting them throughout the year. “We are grateful to the Randburg Police who are actively involved in our school. They understand the challenges the pupils here face,” Bachelor said.
