Strike halts Metrobus service

A strike by Metrobus drivers that started on Friday is continuing this morning.

Metrobus drivers are said to have embarked on a strike, leading to a service shut down this morning.

All of Metrobus’ routes are affected this morning and passengers are urged to make alternative transport arrangements.

Wayne Minnaar, Joburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson, said metro officers were deployed to monitor the protest in Braamfontein on Friday and that officers are again monitoring the area this morning where protesters are apparently blocking the Metrobus headquarters entrance in Braamfontein.

Metrobus spokesperson, Esther Dreyer, was unavailable for comment this morning.

This is a developing story and will be updated as soon as new information comes to light.
