Murder suspect appears in court

FERNDALE – Police swift investigation leads to the arrest of a murder suspect.

The Randburg Police have apprehended a suspect who has appeared before the Randburg Magistrates Court on a charge of murder.

Spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station Constable Stanley Bopape said that they received information about a murder that happened in Ferndale on 16 June. “When the police arrived at the scene of the crime they found the body of a male with a stab wound to his upper body,” he said.

Const Bopape pointed out that paramedics were called and the man was declared dead at the scene.

“The Randburg Police worked around the clock and managed to trace the suspect to his house but unfortunately, he was not present at his place of residence,” Const Bopape admitted.

The police followed all leads which led them to the suspect’s family members. The suspect subsequently handed himself over with his attorney present.

“The suspect whose name cannot be revealed as he has not yet pleaded was charged with murder and appeared in court on 22 June where the case was postponed for further investigations,” Const Bopape said.

He applauded the work of his colleagues and said that their hard work and around-the-clock investigations successfully led to the arrest of the suspect in the matter.

“The police work very hard and pursue each and every case until its end. We urge residents to call the Randburg SAPS if they have any additional information,” he said.
