Netball players shoot and score

RANDPARK RIDGE –Three pupils become provincial netball stars.

Three netball players from Rand Park High School have made the Gauteng provincial team.

Keabetswe Mtshali (Grade 12), Refilwe Tswai (Grade 11) and Kelly Gouws (Grade 10) have had their dreams come true and will represent their province.

The pupils explained that they went to trials at Hoerskool Dr E G Jansen late in April. Tswai said, “My first game will be in Potchefstroom, which also happens to be national trials as well.”

All three girls have played netball since primary school – Tswai and Mtshali both went to Weltevreden Park Primary School with Gouws attending Charterhouse. “I really learned a lot from my primary school coaches and a special teacher who helped me perfect my goal shooting,” said Mtshali.

At Rand Park High School the pupils play for the first team. “A massive thank you goes to our coaches Kayleigh Mcleon and Lauren Shearing for their support and guidance,” said Gouws.

Tswai explained why she loves netball. “It is the only place in my life where I see myself beating my own goals. I don’t compete with others but rather set my own goals to conquer.”
