Police warn residents to be vigilant

KENSINGTON B – Police warn that criminals can gain entry to houses through opened bathroom windows.

Police are appealing to residents in the Randburg police precinct to be more vigilant and refrain from creating opportunities for criminals.

Randburg Police spokesperson, Constable Stanley Bopape, assured residents that negligence was contributing to incidents of house breaking and robbery.

Criminals are allegedly targeting residents who leave their front doors and bathroom windows opened.

“Residents are more relaxed. We are appealing to them to regularly check their alarm system if they are functioning properly,” he explained.

According to the police, most of these incidents could have been prevented if residents were consistently taking precautionary measures. “We are urging residents to always close and lock their doors and windows,” he concluded.
