FERNDALE – Three suspects who were involved in a shootout with the security guards are behind bars.

A security guard was injured after a scuffle with the suspects at the Engen garage in Ferndale on the evening of 5 June.

According to the Randburg Police spokesperson, Constable Stanley Bopape, a suspect allegedly disarmed a security officer on the corner of Oxford Road and Malibongwe Drive after an argument.

Three suspects were apparently engaged in a fight when the guards responded to the scene after one of the employees from the garage pressed the panic button.

Three suspects were arrested and police are investigating an incident of attempted murder. “One of the two security officers was shot in the head by the suspect,” he said. He further explained that the injured guard was transferred to hospital.
