Police support Tekkie Tax Day

RANDBURG CBD – Randburg Police support Tekkie Tax Day and raise funds.

Randburg female police officers heeded the call to celebrate Tekkie Tax Day while raising funds to be donated to the local school for disable children.

Dressed in their jeans and blue golf T-shirts, police initially gathered at the station and agreed on their trip of raising funds. They walked from Kensington B to Randburg CBD on the morning of 27 May.

In the CBD, police distributed pamphlets about drugs and substance abuse to shoppers and commuters at the taxi rank. The event was initiated by Sergeant Cookie Maphanga, from social crime prevention unit.

Despite limited support and poor turnout, the walk was a success as police officials sang and encouraged residents to fight and root out criminal elements.

Sgt Maphanga said at the time of planning that they would educate the public about children’s rights.

She further explained that they have been educating children about their rights and responsibilities over the years. “We do go to schools and teach children to know and understand their rights,” she explained.
