BRYANSTON – World Rowing Junior Championship is one of the largest World Championship for athletes.

Four pupils from St Stithians College are among the Junior National Squad who will represent South Africa in the World Rowing Junior Championship, to be held in Netherlands.

The four were named on the evening of 18 May when the South African Schools Rowing Union (SASRU) named its junior national squad.

The school was incredibly proud of the four pupils who are Mitch Booyse, Tegan Korevaar, Jordan Pepermans, and Max Silber.

“We wish them all of the very best in Holland in August where they, along with a number of other rowers from South Africa, will compete against rowers from around the world,” said the school’s communication co-ordinator, Lethabo-Thabo Royds in a statement.

The World Rowing Junior Championships is one of the largest and most prestigious world championships for young athletes.

“Being selected for the national squad is an incredible achievement that could not have been attained without tireless dedication, skill, and hard work,” said the college’s rector, dr Tim Nuttall, on this great achievement by pupils.

“As a rowing school with a legacy of excellence, we are very proud of our rowers. Their selection to the national squad is a great testament to their skill, hard work and discipline,” he explained.

He concluded that they were delighted that pupils would be able to represent the country and be great ambassadors for rowing at the highest level.
