Bomb scare in Ferndale was only a threat

KENSINGTON B – Police are investigating a bomb threat incident after nothing was found on the premises.

Police have launched a massive investigation and are adamant that the culprit will be incarcerated following a bomb scare in Ferndale.

On the afternoon of 20 May, a male suspect called the receptionist at the Med Shield building and threatened that there was a bomb in the building.

He allegedly shouted at the receptionist when he called for the second time.

According to the Randburg police, this was the second bomb scare at the same building. Late last year police were called to an incident similar to this one.

“We deployed the Dog and Explosive Units to the area. When we arrived there, we evacuated people and searched the building only to find out that there was nothing,” said police spokesperson, Constable Stanley Bopape.

He further explained that upon their arrival they found employees shocked and frightened. “We are investigating and we will bring the suspect to the book,” he concluded.

Details: Randburg Police, 011 499 9000.
