ARMED ROBBERY: Guard tied up with shoe laces

FONTAINEBLEAU – The only security guard at the centre was tied up with shoe laces, according to the police.

Four unknown men who stormed into the Fountains Shopping Centre and robbed the Standard Bank ATM fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Randburg police spokesperson Constable Stanley Bopape said one of the men was armed with a gun.

He said they tied up the only security guard with shoe laces before breaking into the shop through the roof where they used a grinder to access the ATM.

The robbers allegedly looted the shop as well. This incident occurred on the corner of Rabie Street and Republic Road in Fontainebleau on the evening of 7 May.

According to the police, the suspects did not fire any shots and there were no any injuries reported.

Bopape concluded that police were investigating an incident of robbery at a business premises. “So far no one has been arrested and we are still investigating,” he concluded.
