Flu-free winter with ozone

NORTH RIDING – Medical grade oxygen used to make pure ozone is beneficial for the immune system.

Ozone therapy may seem strange to people when they see the big white machine for the first time. Ozone therapy however is a therapy proved to have substantial benefits for its users.

Michelle Nicolopulos is a doctor of naturopathy as well as the chairperson of the Ozone Association of South Africa. Nicolopulos gives ozone therapy to patients through Ozone Hyperthermia Therapy, which happens through heat. “I have a HOCATT machine, which is an ozone sauna machine,” said Dr Nicolopulos.

Basically said, ozone therapy increases the oxygen in the body, which leads to a healthier body. “It also stimulates your immune system so that you are less susceptible to disease especially with winter approaching,” explained Dr Nicolopulos. She added that viral infections cannot survive in an oxygen enrich environment, so to clear infections like flu, one needs to improve the body’s immune system and oxygen levels and keep them up.

Ozone therapy has many benefits, especially if one receives it on a weekly basis. Firstly it helps rid the body of disease. It increases oxygen and oxygen-carrying capacity of the red blood cells. By increasing the oxygen, it stimulates the immune system. Ozone therapy further detoxes the body and helps reduce lactic acid. It also helps with anti-aging because it stimulates antioxidants and stem cells.

It further helps with faster recovery after surgery and injury and helps with recovery from sport-related stiffness. It stimulates endorphins to improve concentration and alleviate migraines. “Ozone improves one’s overall health and well-being,”concluded Dr Nicolopulos.

Each session of ozone therapy is a half hour, where the patient gets in a machine that closes around the body with only the head out as it is not advisable to breathe in the ozone. Medical grade oxygen is used to make pure ozone which is then pumped into the machine for the duration of the session.
