Ready yourself for a planned water interruption

WILGEHEUWEL – Designated areas will face a day without water due to service maintenance.

Johannesburg Water (JW) will implement planned service interruption for maintenance in the following areas on 3 May.

JW external communications officer, Eleanor Mavimbela said that Pinotage Street in Wilgeheuwel will be affected from 8am to 3pm. Restoration time is set for 3pm to 5pm. She further stated the reason for the interruption will be a tie-in for a new development.

She went on to further add that Fourways and Bryanston will be interrupted on the same day. She explained that all the streets will be affected from 7am to 8pm with restoration time set for 8pm to midnight. This interruption is due to a valve installation at Magaliessig.

Suburbs to be affected:

Magaliessig, Paulshof and extensions, Beverly, Pineslopes, Lonehill, Fourway Gardens, Witkoppen and extensions, Douglasdale and extensions, Norscot, Craighavon, Epsom Downs, Bryanston and extensions, Bryanston East and West, Country Life Park, Solridge, Millhill, Kramerview, Clevehill Park, Petervale and Dainfern.

Residents are reminded that level-2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to.

According to section 44 (3) of the Water Services Bylaw level-2 water restrictions states that all consumers are forthwith compelled:

  • Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 6am to 6pm every day
  • Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water
  • Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars and paved areas.

Water saving tips

  • Don’t leave taps dripping
  • Take shallow baths
  • Use bathwater or greywater to water the garden.

JW urged residents to remain active partners in reducing the quantity of water used in the City of Joburg, and to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 080 000 2587.
