Auto dealer thieves strike again

STRIJDOM PARK – Computer thieves in and out of dealership in three minutes.

A gang of computer thieves broke into the Hyundai dealership in Strijdom Park for the third time on 15 April.

With the third successful attempt in two months, they got away with five computer monitors. During their last attempt on 27 February, they stole several of the computer boxes. The thieves gained entrance after breaking the bottom of the glass door of the dealership.

The faces of the three men were not visible on the CCTV cameras that documented their criminal activity. The suspects broke into the dealership and walked out with the monitors within three minutes. The video footage shows the thieves walking in at 7.33pm and walking out at 7.36pm.

Kosta Avgoustinos of Hyundai Strijdom Park said, “We will be taking extra security measures.” He added that since the second break-in, extra security was added and that the suspects had three failed attempts before this attempt on 15 April.

Avgoustinos said that they opened another case at the Randburg Police Station. He added that he was disappointed that the investigating officer assigned to the case had not been to the dealership to look at the video footage and find out more about the case.

Randburg Police spokesperson Stanley Bopape said, “We are aware of the case and it is still under investigation.”
