Rand Park versus Bryanston Derby Day

BRYANSTON – An exciting day of sports at a classic clash derby day.

The spirit of great sportsmanship was seen at the Derby Day between Rand Park High and Bryanston High schools.

The two schools game together at Bryanston on 9 April for a full day, jam-packed with sporting games such as netball, rugby and hockey.

Alan Wilke, principal at Rand Park High School agreed,“We had a thoroughly enjoyable Derby Day at Bryanston on Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many pupils participating in the different rugby, hockey and netball fixtures.”

The day was a super catalyst for healthy fun and enjoyable sport. “Bryanston High School’s hospitality and organisation on the day is always outstanding and we look forward to this event each year,” added Wilke.

Bryanston High principal, John Skelton said, “It was encouraging to see lots of parents and old boys supporting the event, it shows that school spirit is still strong.”

Wilke ended by saying, “I was particularly proud of the way our pupils performed and congratulated each player from both Rand Park and Bryanston on the way they represented their schools.”

Final results were:

1st team rugby Rand Park High won 52–0

1st team hockey boys drew ended in a draw 1–1

1st team hockey girls Rand Park High won 2–1

1st team Rand Park High netball team won 43–14.
