A group of eight armed suspects stormed the Choice Butchery in Cosmo City Shopping Centre and robbed clients and employees in the store.
The incident occurred at the shopping centre on the corner of Central African Republic Avenue and South African Drive on the evening of 6 April at around 5pm. “The suspects were all armed with guns and demanded cash and cell phones,” explained Honeydew Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.
She said one of the suspects also assaulted an employee from the butchery. “After the robbery the suspects ran into the parking area where they stole a bakkie but drove it into the pavement,” she continued.
According to the police, no serious injuries were reported and the suspects fled on foot with their loot since they could not use the bakkie to get away.
“A case of business robbery is currently being investigated by the Honeydew Police detectives,” she said.
