Johannesburg Water would like to inform residents about the daily water supply system update, in certain parts of Cosmo City.
Johannesburg Water external communication officer Eleanor Mavimbela said that parts of Cosmo City extension 8, 7 and are without water due to a burst pipe in the area. A team is on site and water tanks will be made available for residents.
“There are no planned service interruptions for maintenance today, residents are reminded that level–2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhere to,” explained Mavimbela.
She added that level–2 water restrictions according to section 44 (3) of the Water Services Bylaws states that all consumers are advised:
- Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 6am and 6pm every day
- Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water
- Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars, paved areas, etc
Water saving tips
- Don’t leave taps dripping
- Take shallow baths
- Use bathwater or grey water to water the garden.
“We urge residents to remain active partners in reducing the amount of water used in the City of Johannesburg, to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure. Residents are encouraged to subscribe on our website to our SMS notification service for alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions,” concluded Mavimbela.
