WARNING: Get ready for 30 hour water disruptions

JOBURG – Massive water interruptions expected to last for 30 hours.

Various suburbs will be affected by a water interruption which will be implemented from 9am on 12 April to 3pm on 13 April.

The City’s water and sanitation service provider, Joburg Water, issued a warning to inform residents about the planned water disruption that will affect suburbs supplied by the Honeydew tower and reservoir.

“This is for Rand Water to do a tie-in at the reservoir inlet,” said JW external communications officer, Eleanor Mavimbela in a press statement.

This water supply disruption was expected to last for 30 hours. “Suburbs fed by the tower zone will have no water supply during the duration of the shutdown. We estimate that suburbs that are supplied by the reservoir will [have] no water … from around 6pm on 12 April until the end of the shutdown period,” she said.

Suburbs that will be affected are Honeydew, Zandspruit Informal Settlement, Honeydew West and parts of North Riding.

Other suburbs supplied by the Reservoir Zone that will be affected are Northgate, North Riding, Bloubosrand, Kya Sand, Mogale City, Nooitgedacht, Cosmo City (all extensions), Lanseria, Itsoseng Informal Settlement, Malibongwe Ridge, Malatjie Informal Settlement, Olivedale Clinic, Cosmo City Industrial Park, Noordhang, Jackal Creek, Northlands Business and Décor Park.

The city will have roaming tankers in various suburbs and are expected to place water tanks at the following locations:

•Honeydew West Road and Boundary Road;

•Honeydew Police Station

•Jackal Creek Estate

•The Dome at Northgate

• Corner of Aureole Road and Valley Road

•Northlands Décor Park

•Uitval Road and Agnes Road

•Zandspruit Informal Settlement

•Itsotseng Informal Settlement

•Malatjie Informal Settlement.
