City upgrades Randburg Civic Centre

RANDBURG CBD – The City of Joburg is upgrading Randburg Revenue Shared Service Centre to improve customer experience.

The City of Joburg is finally revamping Randburg walk-in Centre on the corner of Jan Smuts Drive and Bram Fischer Avenue.

Ward 104 Councillor David Potter said he was encouraged that the upgrades were to begin soon. He explained that the staff members and residents would be able to engage in a friendly working environment.

“The Randburg Revenue Shared Services Centre (RSSC), which is just one of many city departments that make use of the Randburg Civic Centre, has had a working environment that has been of concern for some time,” he said.

He said the problem was brought to the attention of the City council in mid-May last year.

“The RSSC department of the City has finally agreed to upgrade the office,” he said.

Some of the issues of great concern were the conditions in which City employees and residents had to engage in. This includes broken desks, damaged drawer units, leaving staff members without a place to store their belongings.

“Aircons did not work properly,” he said.

City of Joburg spokesperson Kgamanyane Maphologela said the centre was undergoing a revamp to improve customer experience.

He said the Revenue and Shared Services would have its own separate entrance and space apart from the JMPD.

“We trust that this renovation will improve the customer experience and expedite service delivery as we continue to strive to be more customer-centric,” he said.

He added that the upgrades were expected to be a month long and that minor inconveniences might be experienced.

“We would like to apologise to our customers for the minor inconveniences that they might encounter during the upgrades, however, service delivery will not be interrupted as the project will be done in phases with minimal interruptions. The working hours will remain the same,” said Maphologela.

Some of the exciting developments to look forward to are: a walk in “Centre of Excellence” that will provide a more integrated, efficient one-stop service to the customers; space optimisation to make sure that customers are served professionally; installation of new counters at customer service points and easy access for customers.
