Super fast in SA Championships

ROBINDALE – Young athletes make Laerskool Unika proud at the weekend's SA Championships in Port Elizabeth.

Two young athletes from Laerskool Unika participated in the South African Primary School Athletics Championships on 11 and 12 March in Port Elizabeth and did very well.

The athletes had to take the top two places at the Gauteng Championships on 26 and 27 February to be a part of the 180 athletes representing Gauteng in PE. Unfortunately, Phillip Steyn did not manage to win a medal, but did came in seventh place in the 75m hurdles with a time of 00:11:98 and sixth in the 150m hurdles with a time of 00:23:49.

Timeke-Jade Coetzee won first place in the 80m track event for girls U10 with a winning time of 00:11:15 and is the South African champion of this event for her age group. She was also part of the relay team that also won first place.

“Unika is unbelievable proud of Timeke and Phillip after their participation in the SA Championships,” said Anel Engelbrecht from the school.
