Son closed his store at 7pm, and when he walked to his car he was approached by two male suspects. “They asked me where the money was. I put my hands up and told them that I did not have any money. Son managed to get into his car and lock the doors. The robbers tried to open the doors as they appeared to want to shoot him again, “The gun seemed to have jammed as the man wanted to shoot me for the second time,” explained Son.

The robbers got onto their motorbike and sped off. “I felt a lot of anger and adrenaline at that moment which led me to start chasing him,” said Son.

Son chased the robbers all the way to Emmarentia. “The road went downhill and that is when I saw the motorcycle lose control and crash,” said Son. One of his staff members phoned to tell him that the police were at the shop, they caught up with him and apprehended one suspect while the second suspect managed to get away on foot before the police arrived. According to Captain Alex Vermaak of Linden Police, the suspect who was caught was taken to hospital and is now paralysed from the motorcycle accident.

When asked about the suspect who is now paralysed Son said, “You know what they say about karma.”

Son managed to drive himself to Netcare Linksfield Hospital to get treatment. He described the wound as minor, and did not require an operation. Today he is well and on his feet running his Traditinal Fish and Chips shop once again.

He is planning on getting security to protect his store and his customers. Son admitted that he is still a little scared but he is happy that he is recovering well.
