GALLERY and VIDEO: Big city lights at Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge

RANDPARK RIDGE – The Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge pupils do their version of the Broadway show, "Thoroughly Modern Milly".

It was an evening of bright city lights and dreams come true as a very talented group of pupils from Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge High School put on a show for a packed great hall on 14 March.

The play was inspired by the Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Milly. The story is based on Molly Mahoney (Zithe Kamesa) who believes she is destined for more than her farm life under the watchful eye of her parents. After convincing her parents, Molly moves to the big city where she is greeted by song and dance.

Humour is a big part of the play especially when Molly meets the sneaky Madame Bing (Tyla van Niekerk) and her two hilarious assistants, Yin (Rebeccah De Chalain) and Yang (Timothy Hill). Most of the lead roles had a chance to showcase not only their acting skills, but dancing and singing as well. They entertained the audience with well-known numbers like Islands in the stream and Money Money Money.

The play catered for many tastes and was full of dance, songs, drama, humour and life lessons. The pupils however, were not only responsible for what happened on stage, but also choreographed the dances and were in charge of the sets, lighting and sound. The hard work and months of training were rewarded by the standing ovation the pupils received at the kick-off show on 14 March. They will be performing till 16 March.
