UPDATE: Burst pipe fixed but dug up road is still a major problem

SUNDOWNER – JRA will fix dug-up road after burst water pipe was repaired.

Although Joburg Water fixed a burst water pipe in Douglas Crescent after residents had been without water for nearly a week, the damage caused to the road has still not been fixed.

A trustee of the North Gate View complex who asked to stay anonymous said, “The road is still not fixed and with the heavy rains, mud is starting to pile up.”

Units from Joburg Water repaired the pipe in the evening of 4 March after residents suffered for days, using swimming pool water and water from the burst pipe to flush their toilets. Although the pipe is now fixed, the road needs to be repaired.

Marketing, communications and operations manager of Johannesburg Roads Agency, Bertha Peters-Scheepers said an inspector will investigate the matter. “JRA commits to reinstate the site once the investigation is completed.” She said that JRA encourages residents to report road and storm water issues to 0860 562 874, by emailing hotline@jra.org.za, on twitter @MyJra, via JRA’s Find and Fix mobile app.
