16 injured in Rabie Street collision

ROBIN ACRES – Toddler and baby sustain minor injuries in taxi accident.

Two children were among the 16 people who were injured when a taxi and Mercedes Benz collided on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Rabie Street in Robin Acres.

According to [ER24] spokesperson Werner Vermaak, the accident occurred shortly after 11am.

“Paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the occupants on the sidewalk near the taxi,” said Vermaak.

It was understood that all the passengers climbed out of the taxi after the collision. Fifteen occupants sustained minor injuries ranging from soft tissue injuries to abrasions. One occupant sustained moderate injuries.

Two children, a one-year old and a four month-old baby, also sustained minor injuries.

All of the occupants were transported to various hospitals in the area. The driver of the Mercedes was not injured in the collision.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known.
