Not just any old donation

MALANSHOF – Paper donation creates opportunity for special needs school.

The donation of Antalis Olin paper to FootPrints Preparatory School for their ‘Night of 1000 Drawings’ will change the lives of a number of children with special needs as the fundraiser proceeds will go to providing much-needed bursaries.

The fundraiser involves securing 1 000 drawings that will be sold on 28 October. Coughlan added that the drawings, done by pupils from the neighbouring high schools in the area, will be viewed by the public for a period of time. Following this, they will be given a number and sticker. This number is then stuck on the drawing they want to buy and will then be sold for an R100 each.

Principal of FootPrints, Sharon Rowe said there are many special-needs children in South Africa, but not enough schools based in Malanshof.

While the school currently offers eight-part bursaries, she said this is not enough. “We really need to increase this,” said Rowe.

Antalis South Africa Marketing Manager, Caroline Coughlan, said while FootPrints never asked for a donation, Antalis saw this as an opportunity to make a difference. “Antalis is proud to be associated with the FootPrints School and their ‘Night of 1000 Drawings’ project fundraiser. We trust that the beautiful paper we donated will inspire great artwork from the pupils and raise the funds for the bursaries for the special needs children.”

Rowe concluded the announcement of the donation left her totally speechless. We are truly grateful to kick off our project on such a positive note, all thanks to Antalis.
