Armed Robbery: Man shot three times

OLIVEDALE – Two robbers allegedly shot a man three times after a robbery in Olivedale.

Two robbers allegedly shot a man (35) three times during a hijacking after they fled the scene of a business robbery at Pizza Perfect in Olivedale Corner at Olive Street with an amount of R30 000.

The incident happened during the afternoon of 1 March when the two armed men stormed the shop and demanded cash.

According to Douglasdale Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan the suspects approached the victim on David Street in Sharonlea. He was shot twice in the stomach and once in the leg.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the man is in a critical condition. “Paramedics treated and stabilised the patient and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patient was transported to a private hospital for further stabilisation,” he explained.

He said that the man was later airlifted by the ER24 helicopter to another facility for urgent care.

“The driver was taken to the hospital and four cartridges were found on the scene,” WO Muthan said.

The police are investigating incidents of business robbery, hijacking and attempted murder.
