Storm water drains are finally fixed

KYA SAND – JRA has finally unblocked the storm water drains along Agnes Road in Kya Sand.

Joburg Road Agency (JRA) finally fixed the storm water drains on Agnes Road in Kya Sand. This after the problem was reported in November last year.

For over two months residents complained that the road was flooded and feared that it could develop potholes.

Ward 96 Councillor Matome Mafokwane explained that drains were blocked because of the shoddy job that was done last year when JRA resurfaced the tarred road.

Ward 96 Councillor Matome Mafokwane complains about the blocked storm water drain.

“There was a massive dam on the road. I wonder why it took them so long to fix this problem,” he said.

JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers explained that the team was dispatched to the site with a jet vac machine and the drains were unblocked.

“We are satisfied that the drains are now clear and able to effectively deal with any storm water run-off, which over an extended period could affect the condition of the road surface,” she concluded.
