Positive thinking makes granny (105) live longer
BROMHOF – Jessy Crawe-Brown is 105 years old and still going strong at the Golden Harvest Retirement Village.
Her positive attitude, thinking and forever happy lifestyle has ensured Jessy Crawe-Brown (105) live a long life.
The Golden Harvest Retirement Village resident lived in North Riding where she owned a big, beautiful indigenous garden before moving to the village situated in Bromhof 19 years ago.
Granny Jessy spends her hours in the village’s room reading magazines, watching travelling channels and playing puzzle games.
Born in Klerksdorp, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for 37 years.
Daughter Heather Crawe-Brown said, “My mother was a hardworking woman with a very small family. She was married but our father died years ago.”
Heather said her mother has two children, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Heather said that Granny Jessy was always a very fit woman, ate little food, loved working in her garden but she was not a gym person.
“Together with my father, she owned a big garden nursery in North Riding where they planted indigenous plants and flowers. She also assisted in some local nurseries,” added Heather.
She added that now her mother can’t walk properly because of the hip replacement operation done when she was 100.
“What I love about my mother is that she enjoys life to the fullest and always stays positive. She is my role model and I have learned a lot from her,” Heather said.
On 18 February, Granny Jessy became one of the Readwell eye-glasses beneficiaries.
Readwell together with Clicks Northgate visited her room and other residents in the Golden Harvest Retirement Village.
“I feel like crying, that is very nice of you and thank you for the glasses,” said Granny Jessy.
