Oasis Haven hosts open day

ROBIN HILLS – Oasis Haven strives to create a family home for children in their care.

Oasis Haven in Robin Hills prides themselves in creating a family home for children who have no other home. An open-day for teachers, donors and the general public was held on 19 February.

Ivan Achiume, the development manager of Oasis Haven, said that they host the open day to make members of the public aware of the services that the home offers. “Many people are aware of us, but they don’t know how the house looks,” said Achiume. He further explained that many teachers of the children came to the open day to get a feel for how the children live.

On the tour, people had a chance to meet the staff and see the rooms of the girls’ house. Achiume said that they strive to make the house not look like an institution, but rather like a family home.

Teachers of The King’s School in Robin Hills were on a tour and said that it is good to see how the home has progressed over the years. They added that it is good to finally see the lifestyle that the children live. They said that the children love to tell them how happy they are in Oasis Haven.

Every corner of the house looks like a family home with details to make the children feel as comfortable as possible.
