DOUGLASDALE – Police ask residents for assistance to curb crime after 55 suspects were arrested for various crimes.

Douglasdale Police officers arrested 55 suspects on 12 February in various sting operations in the area.

Douglasdale Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said that the suspects were aged between 22 to 35 years old and they were arrested for various crimes which included: loitering, illegal gambling, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs and dealing in liquor.

“This operation is ongoing as we want to rid the area of crime. We regard dealing in drugs as a very serious offence,” he said.

WO Muthan pointed out that there was a problem with drugs all over and urged residents to assist the police in their continuous effort to curb the scourge of drugs.

“Residents who stay in complexes and estates need to be very vigilant and must not hesitate to call the police if they suspect any criminal activities,” WO Muthan added.

He explained that they were committed to taking down drug dealers one by one and warned that anyone who was involved with criminal activities would be arrested and charged. “Residents must be wary of involving themselves in crime because crime does not pay. You do the crime you will do the time,” he warned.
