WARNING: Bogus police officers wanted

NOOITGEDACHT – Police warns motorists against bogus police.

Muldersdrift SAPS warns the community of suspects posing as police officers in the Muldersdrift and Nooitgedacht areas who are targeting trucks.

Two sector policing members were conducting patrols along N14 freeway on 28 January at 9.15pm in the Nooitgedacht when they came across a stationary truck on the side of the road. After investigations it was established that the driver was a victim of a hijacking and robbery.

According to Muldersdrift SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Hilter Ngwenya, the driver had been driving along the N14 towards Vosloorus Ekurhuleni when he saw a white Ford Focus with two males driving in the fast lane with flashing blue lights.

Muldersdrift SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya warns the public on behalf of Muldersdrift Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kgaogelo Seabi.

The passenger in the Ford allegedly yelled at the victim in an attempt to get him to pull over after which they cut in front of the victim forcing him to stop in the yellow lane.

According to the victim, one of the men was dressed in full police uniform and his accomplice was dressed in civilian clothes. “The victim claimed that the two men pointed their firearms at him and tied his hands in rope while demanding information on the load he was carrying in the truck,” added WO Ngwenya.

It is alleged that two more suspects approached the truck and drove with the driver to an unknown location where they unloaded the goods from the truck. The victim alleged that the suspects had a device that is believed to be used to deactivate the truck’s tracking system.

WO Ngwenya indicated that the truck was recovered and the victim was unharmed. “The police are appealing to the public to please come forward with information that could lead to arrest of these perpetrators,” concluded WO Ngwenya.
