National Freedom Network saves lives

ROBIN HILLS – The National Freedom Network is dedicated to working with other organisations in the fight against human trafficking.

The National Freedom Network is an organisation dedicated to fighting the issue of human trafficking with the help of volunteers and other organisations.

NFN was established in May 2011 and works with a number of organisations by using their resources and information to raise awareness about human trafficking.

Volunteer Marina Reyneke, a Robin Hills resident, joined NFN two years ago. Reyneke said she has always been involved in community work since she started a life group with a group of women in 2004.

” I was exposed to human trafficking at an leadership conference where they spoke about the poverty in the United Kingdom. The topic of human trafficking was discussed which encouraged me to do my independent research about it,” said Reyneke.

She added that she made contact with the head of A21 South Africa, Katie Modrau, two years ago and spoke to her about her vision to get involved in an organisation that helps victims of human trafficking.

Since then she has been an active volunteer at NFN working together with its members. Reyneke does the organisation’s administration and promotes the various projects they are working on.

NFN hosts a quarterly prayer meetings at the New Creation Family Church in Robin Hills, Randburg, that is open to all of their network partners and those passionate about prayer.

” We have created an awareness tool presentation for policemen about human trafficking at 142 police stations in South Africa. The presentation will explain what is human trafficking, the signs, how to treat victims and who they can contact,” said Reyneke.

She encourages people to educate themselves about human trafficking by visiting the NFN website and getting in contact with a member who will assist them.

Reyneke also highlighted that it will be helpful for people who want to join the organisation to be self-motivated, passionate and have a skill that they can use to add value to the organisation.
