Trinityhouse High Randpark Ridge makes a difference

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse High Randpark Ridge does their part in collecting water for drought-stricken areas in South Africa.

As the water shortage crises continues to strike many areas in South Africa, Trinityhouse High Randpark Ridge decided to create awareness and make a difference.

The school put together an initiative to assist people in drought-stricken areas. The school aimed to collect as many empty bottles as they were able to in a week. They then came together, cleaned the bottles and filled them with 1 500 litres of water.

“With the current water crisis in parts of the country we saw the need to assist in the collection and aid those who need help,” said Principal Christo de Wit.

The school is also saving their grass cuttings and delivering them to farming districts that need fodder for their cattle. Principal de Wit added that the pupils at Trinityhouse are thankful to be blessed and it is because of this that they must give to those who have less than them.

“Through these initiatives we want our pupils to get a sense of social responsibility and feel compelled to help where they see help is needed,” he said.

The school can proudly boast that they filled hundreds of bottles of water that were donated to drought-stricken communities. Principal de Wit concluded that, as helping others is very close to the heart of Trinityhouse, they are honoured to get involved with local water conservation advocacy efforts. They will therefore continue to aspire to educate the surrounding communities to effectively conserve, manage, and distribute the water available.
