SOS Children’s Villages care for abandoned children

NORTHGATE– SOS Children's Villages South Africa travel to different shopping centres to promote their child sponsorship initiative.

SOS Children’s Villages South Africa is passionate about helping children who are abandoned or whose families are unable to take care of them.

Fundraiser Ashton Ncube said children who are abused or from disadvantaged homes, are taken from abusive environments by social workers or by someone in the community and placed in the care of the SOS Children’s Villages South Africa.

” We travel to different malls and shopping centres seven days a week to encourage people to sponsor an orphan or the organisation. Funds go toward the daily needs of the children such as education, clothing and food,” said Ncube.

Marketing and communication coordinator, Seithutho Seakgwa said that so far during the sponsorship campaigns, fundraisers visit malls in Johannesburg such as Cresta Shopping Centre, Northgate Shopping Centre and Melrose Arch.

She added people can sponsor a child by donating any amount from R100, which is debited from their bank account once a month for as long as they permit.

” We currently have eight villages around the country with children from different backgrounds and circumstances who are in great need of being taken care of. Our campaign entails explaining how the child got to SOS and how your contribution makes a significant difference in their lives,”said Seakgwa.

Ncube encourages people who see them at shopping centres to find out more about the initiative through them or by visiting their website [https://sosvillages.org.za/] to find out more about how they can contribute towards the organisation.
