GALLERY: Over three tons of water on its way to the Free State

RANDBURG – Rocci alongside Water Shortage SA collect water from caring Johannesburgers.

The Soli Deo Gloria Boutique Hotel in Randburg played host to a water drive project by Rocci Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rocci) on 22 January.

Isabel Janse van Rensburg, chamber manager of Rocci said that Rocci worked in conjunction with Water Shortage SA to collect water for drought-stricken Free State. The water collected will be taken to the Jacaranda FM studios in Midrand on 23 January. It will then be transported to the Free State next week and distributed in the most needed areas. “We saw that there is a big problem with water and that many people are in need,” said Janse van Rensburg.

She further explained that businesses and members on their Facebook group donated water. It was easy to gather water as everybody is aware of the problem. “It’s good to see that businesses still have humanity. If someone donated one litre of water it will make a difference,” said Janse van Rensburg. She further said that she is very happy with the response. “Everybody jumped in and donated water.” Some businesses donated as much as 500 litres of water.

Mr South Africa, Armand du Plessis, also paid a visit to the water drive to show his support. At time of publication of article, Rocci managed to collect 3846 litres of water.

Details: Rocci, 010 595 9644.
