Some restaurants say no to children

JOBURG – How do you feel about children in restaurants?

With Blandford Manor in Randburg making the decision to ban children, the question is: do you agree with child-free zoned restaurants?.

Blandford Manor decided after many years of operation to ban children at their premises. The decision according to their website, came after pain-staking deliberation.

Their reasons were as follows;

• The danger to children, the disturbance caused by unruly children therefore a loss of income, the destruction of their property, injury to wildlife as well as plain rudeness from a small selection of children. Read further justifications for their decision here.

Another well-known facility that limits (children) activities is the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden. Due to the gardens being classified as conservation areas they do not allow the following;

• Balls, bats, bikes, kites, Frisbees, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, fires, gas braais, dogs, cats or musical instruments, radios and CD players.

Many restaurants around Joburg do, however, cater for children such as the usual takers; Spur, Wimpy or Panarottis, to mention only a few.

What are your thoughts:

Would you visit a place that did not allow children or do you prefer the places that do not cater for children under a certain age?

As a parent, do you allow your children to run rampant around other diners or guests?
