First fibre installed in Linden in the new year

LINDEN – First residents get Vumatel Fibre installed in their home.

The community of Linden is yet another community to be part of the Vumatel Fibre Group that aims to connect every home with high-speed open-access fibre. Their first connection for this year took place at a resident’s home in Linden on 14 January.

Vumatel Fibre Group resident liason for the Linden and Victory Park area Tevesh Pather said they divided the suburb into different phases where Linden is divided into 10 different phases.

Their first installation in Linden took place last year October where they laid out the cable throughout the suburb on both sides of the street where an individual cable goes to every home.

“The beauty of it is you have an individual line that improves residents’ internet connection speed 24/7 with no interruptions. I believe this is a great service for residents to use now because in the next five to 10 years everyone will have to use this service as this is the direction technology is travelling in,” said Pather.

Fibrehood communications manager for the Linden and Victory Park area Mark Laileux said they actively engage with Johannesburg Road Agency about municipal issues where they meet with them and ward councillors of the area.

Ward 99 Councillor Bruce Herbert said initially, the community was intrigued with what Fibrehood is all about and the installation.

“So far installations in the area have been done exceptionally well where they worked efficiently and replaced the paving that was removed. It is going to put internet connections into more homes and make a significant difference in their lives,” said Herbert.
