SHARONLEA – Pupils and proud parents start a new term on a positive note.

Excited pupils from Sharonlea Primary School came in numbers with their equally excited parents to start off their first day of school in 2016, on 13 January.

Grade R teacher Ronelle Davel said that this year a great deal of attention will be given to the pupils on social and emotional skills while preparing them for big school.

“There is a perception that the Grade Rs only play but they also learn a lot through playing and educational activities,” said Davel. The Grade R classrooms were recently built with the fifth classroom almost complete.

The Grade 1 pupils exuded excitement for the beginning of their new chapter in big school while their parents’ eyes filled with tears from witnessing this symbolic day.

They were dressed in their uniforms along with the over-sized school bags filled with their books and stationery ready for the school year ahead.
