BORDEAUX – New changes to come at Old Parks for 2016.

Old Parktonian Sports Club in Bordeaux will be introducing indoor soccer, netball and cricket.

The indoor sports arena will be launched with three pitches that are being renovated to introduce new indoor sports to the Old Parks Sports Club. After the club came into new management in November last year, some changes have been made.

The new outdoor sports arena will be teaming up with Africa United and will be relaying the pitches with brand new FIFA approved synthetic turf, netting and lighting. The new indoor sports arena owners Marc van der Sluys and Rodney Bush are excited to turn the club around and bring the best indoor sports experience with social and competitive leagues.

Old Parks Club manager Lizette Driescher said that people can come to the club even if they are not club members as they do have a café where community members can grab a bite to eat. There are many sports facilities and sports to take part in such as cricket, bowling, soccer and hockey. They are also branching out into more activities such as rugby, tennis private lessons, yoga and martial arts.

“We encourage families to come to the club, there is a children’s area for the little ones to play and we also allow pets to be brought in as long as they are on a leash,” said Driescher. She added that many people in the area do not know the sports club and they might be intimidated to come in. “Everyone is welcome here,” she added.

The club will have an official re-launch on 30 January where they will have a soccer tournament and many other activities.
