Opening of Cosmo Mall bridge delayed

COSMO CITY – December break delays Cosmo Mall Pedestrian Bridge opening.

The Cosmo Mall Pedestrian Bridge opening has been delayed and is due to only open in mid-January, as opposed to the initial December date.

The developers of Cosmo Mall, [Bentel Group https://bentelgroup.co.za/], commented that the delay is due to builders taking a break in December and everyone going on leave.

The pedestrian bridge was originally proposed by the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) in 2010 to be built from Cosmo Mall across Malibongwe Drive to the taxi rank opposite the mall.

It is believed that the new bridge will become a familiar landmark in the area as well as a tourism attraction that will be of benefit to Cosmo City and other local communities.

The pedestrian bridge is intended to provide a safer and convenient pedestrian and cycle crossing, which is also wheelchair friendly, that will keep pedestrians safe from vehicles travelling on Malibongwe Drive.
