FERNDALE – An energy of excitement surged through the pupils of Ferndale High School as they received their Matric results

It was an exhilarating day for Ferndale High School’s Matric pupils of 2015 when they went to their school to collect their results on 6 January.

Pupils started trickling in from 8am, nervous and excited at the same time to see how well they had fared. They gathered together to read the paper and told each other stories of how they either could not sleep or eat during the days leading up to the release of the results.

Nthabeleng Skhosana, one of the matriculants at the school said that for her, the exams were challenging.

“They might have been challenging, but the stress was all worth it,” said Skhosana.

Newly appointed principal, Bahiya Manuel said that these were her first official results in her capacity and that they were an improvement from last year’s results.

“The pass rate this year was 93.8 per cent which was an increase of one per cent from last year,” said Manuel.

She further explained that most pupils did exceptionally well in tourism and that she was very proud of the standard of work which she hopes to use as a catalyst for this year’s Matric pupils for even better success.

Bogani Sithole, another pupil at the school said that for him, the exams were okay and that Afrikaans was his most challenging subject.

“I was very excited to see my name in the paper this morning,” said Sithole.

Manuel concluded with hopes that the 2016 Matric pupils all receive a quality pass where they can easily pursue their desired careers.
