Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge’s top Matric achievers

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge celebrates its top Matric achievers.

Matric pupils at Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge received their results on 30 December. Out of 125 pupils, 220 A symbols were achieved (1.75 per pupil). ninety per cent of the class earned a BD pass, while 8 per cent earned a D pass.

Emily Wedepohl earned seven distinctions. They were in English home language (93 per cent), Afrikaans first additional language (82), mathematics (81), history (82), visual arts (91), physical sciences (85) and life orientation (84). She achieved a B in advanced programme English. Wedepohl will start her studies in Film Studies (majoring in Cinematography) at UCT. She is waiting to hear if she received a full scholarship at  an Ivy League University in the United States of America. “I have been in love with film and television since before I can remember. I want to create magic, and make art that changes people lives,” she said.

Donovan Bester achieved seven distinctions. They were in English home language (83 per cent), Afrikaans first additional language (82), mathematics (92), accounting (91), life sciences (91), physical sciences (85) and life orientation (85). Bester, a lover of scuba, fly-fishing, music and rugby, will soon follow in his father’s footsteps to pursue the field of Medicine at Wits University. His big dream is to become a surgeon, help others and save one human life at a time.

Katie Bultitude achieved seven distinctions. They were in English home language (84 per cent), Afrikaans first additional language (84), mathematics (90), history (88), life sciences (88), physical sciences (90) and life orientation (89). Bultitude, a young Latin American Dancer, will follow in her mother’s footsteps studying Medicine at Wits University. She said that her mother with her true dedication and compassion treats HIV/Aids and TB patients. Bultitude said that her mother is her ultimate inspiration and she would also like to study revolutionary medicine to save people across the globe. Bultitude said she cannot wait to start this new chapter in her life.

Stephen Kettley achieved seven distinctions. They were in English home language (82 per cent), Afrikaans first additional language (82), mathematics (90), information technology (89), life sciences (83), physical sciences (82) and life orientation (85). Kettley is a passionate maths addict, and a very well-rounded individual. He will start studying Financial Maths at Wits University in 2016. Even though he loves music, plays the guitar and performs well on the sports field, his passion for numbers, figures and maths triumphed for his career path.

Melissa Purdon achieved seven distinctions. They were in English home language (88 per cent), Afrikaans first additional language (85), mathematics (85), physical science (82), life sciences (96), geography (91) and life orientation (93). Purdon has  a special interest in obesity and metabolism and wishes to specialise in this area of medicine in order to help people who have nowhere else to turn. She said it is her biggest dream to make a difference in people’s lives.  She will be studying an MBChB at Wits University in 2016.

Caitlyn Thomson achieved seven distinctions. They were in English home language (81 per cent), Afrikaans first additional language (85), mathematics (90), physical science (82), life sciences (87), geography  (90) and life orientation (85). The very talented and adventurous Thomson, will be pursuing her passion for singing in 2016. She has been given a wonderful opportunity to pursue her musical talents. Thereafter she will be studying Medicine at Wits University from 2017.

School Principal Christo de Wit congratulated the pupils. “We are very pleased with the excellent results achieved by the pupils of Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge. The combination of supportive parents, hardworking pupils and an exceptional staff have again placed our school in the top educational echelons in the country,” he said.
