Where to leave your pets over the holidays

LINDEN–Taking your pets to a reputable kennel while you're on holiday will give you peace of mind.

The festive season is a period most people use to travel long distances to either visit family or go on holiday.

Pet lovers may dread the part of not being able to travel with their pets to their destinations due to factors like travelling restrictions with pets or not being able to afford the added cost of travelling with them.

There is good news for both pets and their owners that will suit them both. Taking pets to reputable kennels to take care of your pets while you’re away is a great alternative.

Cat lovers can leave their cuddly pets at The Cat Hotel based in Linden that is a cat boarding facility in a boutique environment.

The hotel is based in a peaceful environment where trained staff members take care of pets on your behalf. The indoor units include multi-leveled scratching poles while the outdoor unit features tree stumps and a shaded area.

Based in Pinehaven, Snowpine Kennels and Cattery manager Tracey van Rhyn said December is their busiest time of the year .

“Last year we had 306 dogs and cats in December last year. So we are definitely expecting high volumes this year too,” said Van Rhyn.

She also said that their prices vary according to the size of the animals where all their rates include food, bathing and bedding.

“On average pets are left here depending on the duration of their holiday. We accommodate the animals by walking the dogs twice a day, we administer medicine when necessary and provide all our pets with love and attention,” said Van Rhyn.
