GALLERY: Mintek employees awarded for long service

RANDBURG – Mintek recognizes its loyal employees and those who shared innovative ideas with the company.

Employees of Mintek were recognized for their loyalty to the company.

The SA’s mineral research organisation held its annual Excellence Awards in Ferndale on 4 December.

After the ceremony, all the employees embarked on a 5km Walk for Diversity, within the company’s premises.

Nosi Nyamane, manager for mineralogy said the winners of the Excellence Awards were those who shared innovative ideas or contributed positively in the growth and development of the company.

She said they have over 700 employees who are contributing to the company everyday.

Long service awards were awarded to workers who have been with the company from five to 40 years of service.

Peter James Tout scooped the Long Service Award for the 40 years that he has been working at Mintek, without a break.

He joined the company in 1975.

“This is how we encourage our employees and show how we appreciate their contribution. Even those who came yesterday, we still need them to know that their jobs are also appreciated,” said Nyamane.

Head of communications Dr Jessie Pillay, said the diversity walk is done for team building and to help employees stay fit and healthy.

He said they need their employees to also get to know each other better.

“500 employees took part in the 5km Walk for Diversity,” Dr Pillay said.

Mintek is one of the world’s leading technology organisations specialising in mineral processing, attractive metallurgy and related areas.
