First Linden SAPS award ceremony

MALANSHOF – Award ceremony prompts a sense of motivation and acknowledgement to Linden Police.

The first annual and year-end ceremony in five years was held by Linden Police on 27 November at Bentley Randburg Cricket Club sports complex in Malanshof.

Members of the police force received certificates and trophies as a reward for their commitment in the fight against crime.

Linden Police Station Commander Colonel Balaraman Govindasamy, explained that he decided to arrange the event as a sense of motivation and acknowledgement to the station members.

“This is to let our members understand that we appreciate what they do. We get our salaries at the end of the month but still to be appreciated with a small token is wonderful,” explained Col Govindasamy

He added that the Community Policing Forum (CPF) partnered with them and helped to source sponsors who made the event possible.

“This is not the last event. We will let members know from the beginning of the year about the awards and the categories so they will work toward achieving that,” he further explained.

Bath said they worked hard with passion to eradicate crime in their policing precinct.

“They recently initiated daily crime reports to evaluate the level of crime within the sectors. This allows them to create awareness and tackle those crime incidents,” the CPF chairperson explained.

Captain Alex Vermaak added that they review crime on a daily basis to inform residents about the incidents in their communities.

A member of the detectives team, Warrant Officer Rivalani Nkotswi, who had not booked off sick for the past 12 years, said he was passionate about fighting crime and ensuring safety in the community.

This year’s categories were among others, best shift commander, best sector commander,best Vispol support member, best crime office member and best members for not booking off sick in the period of 36 months.
