Roof falls during hail storm

NORTH RIDING – Due to heavy weather conditions part of a property was damaged after a roof collapsed onto it.

Certain parts of South Africa experienced a heatwave last week that caused a water shortage in Gauteng. The dry conditions finally came to an end on 16 November when the South African weather service warned of heavy thunderstorms with hail and strong winds.

A piece from a complex next door flew onto a resident’s driveway.

While some people shared beautiful images of the hail in their areas, others unfortunately experienced severe damage due to the increment weather conditions.

A couple from North Riding along with their children were in their house before the storm erupted on 16 November when they heard a loud bang.

The loud bang was caused by a piece of roof from the complex next door that landed on their house and then slid onto their driveway. Lerato Tshivhase was sitting with her two young children when the storm began. “We were all terrified when the storm started, especially when we heard a loud bang on the roof which made my son cry,” she said.

The roof from a next door complex flew onto a resident’s property during the thunderstorm.

Mpho Tshivhase said that he was surprised the piece of roof fell off so easily.
