GALLERY: Photographers show their creative works

FERNDALE – A collection of photographic artists gathered together to showcase their art at Kamarez, and donates to childcare.

Members of the Randburg Photo Club displayed their best work at a gala evening held at The Mews of Rosebank on 12 November.

The exhibition was held at Kameraz in Rosebank and it was themed Ensemble.

Members were asked to select their best work for the year to be printed and sold to the public.

The exhibition was filled with thought-provoking imagery ranging from portraits to landscape and abstract art.

The night was not a competition and no winners were announced at the end of it.

It was just a night for the photographers to find their aperture, as it were, and promote themselves without the fear of being critiqued.

The night was made extra special by the presence of the children from Abraham Kriel Childcare.

A group of about 10 girls from the childcare performed melodic Christmas carols for the guests.

The cherry on top was that 50 per cent of each of the sold art works would go to this childcare facility while the rest of the proceeds went the artist.

The Ferndale based club, has held it’s meetings at the Randburg Methodist Church Hall for the past six years on every first Thursday of the month.

Chairperson of the club, Jannie du Plessis said the events vary between formal and informal.

“We have the formal event where members submit pictures according to a specific subject matter, and we invite judges to critique the images” said Du Plessis.

“We also have our informal event that is held at the Randburg Golf Club, but it has no judges.”

The chairperson emphasised that this club is not a formal one and that people get together and share their art.

“We keep the politics out of it, we come to share and mingle,” said Du Plessis.
